I know that practice makes perfect and it will take time to get the strength I need to properly balance. But what else can I be doing to improve my balance postures and not waver and shake or fall? What sorts of external factors can affect my balance (lack of sleep, dehydration, certain foods, medications, anything)?

Drink lots of water, eat healthy, when you’re balancing make sure your feet are flat, and most importantly concentrate. And of coarse practice which you already know.

    I don’t know about any external factors, but for a fact, Wii Fit Yoga really really helps.

    keep practicing every day, but make sure to have enough water of you will get dehydrated.
