I know there are different types of yoga. Which is for someone who has a build of 5′5" and 110 pounds ( so no weight loss, or heavy-sweating type yoga)? I just want to maintain flexibility and give myself more energy without coffee.

here try this one it looked good to me. it is not very physically demanding and is good for stress relief :)

My friend Lily (who has, in a sense, an amazing body) takes yoga classes and loves them. I’ve been thinking about taking it up, but I was wondering: What are the actual benefits of yoga? I’ve done it once or twice, and I know it’s very peaceful (and my muscles get sore the next day), but I want to know what exactly it does to your body. How often should/do you do it? How quickly do you see results? Can you actually lose weight?

Just wondering. All answers are seriously appreciated!

Stress is the number one suspect affecting all parts of our physical, endocrinal and emotional system. And with the help of yoga this things can be corrected.

At the physical level, yoga and its cleansing practices have proven to be extremely effective for various disorders.

Would doing nude yoga be good to build a better body image?

Would it help me become comfortable with my body?

Any other benefits (besides no restriction)?

Nude yoga gives you a much better appreciation the body. Sorry for bringing up the subject of ‘no restrictions’, but without clothes, you’d have a better range of motion increasing your strength and flexibility.

I’m signing up for a class once a week, and I’ve been told that yoga is fantastic for you. And not that I disbelieve anyone, but how exactly does it benefit you? SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY PLEASE!

Increasing Flexibility – yoga has positions that act upon the various joints of the body including those joints that are never really on the ‘radar screen’ let alone exercised.

Increasing lubrication of the joints, ligaments and tendons – likewise, the well-researched yoga positions exercise the different tendons and ligaments of the body.

Massaging of ALL Organs of the Body – Yoga is perhaps the only form of activity which massages all the internal glands and organs of the body in a thorough manner, including those – such as the prostate – that hardly get externally stimulated during our entire lifetime. Yoga acts in a wholesome manner on the various body parts. This stimulation and massage of the organs in turn benefits us by keeping away disease and providing a forewarning at the first possible instance of a likely onset of disease or disorder.

Complete Detoxification – By gently stretching muscles and joints as well as massaging the various organs, yoga ensures the optimum blood supply to various parts of the body. This helps in the flushing out of toxins from every nook and cranny as well as providing nourishment up to the last point. This leads to benefits such as delayed ageing, energy and a remarkable zest for life.

Excellent toning of the muscles – Muscles that have become flaccid, weak or slothy are stimulated repeatedly to shed excess flab and flaccidity.

This video propounds the benefits of the Ashtanga Yoga. The term ‘Ashtanga’ means ‘Eight Limbs’. It refers to the 8 limbs of Yoga. Baba Ramdev elucidates on the objective of this form which is to purify the practitioners mind through eight steps. The aim of Ashtanga Yoga is to embody the traditional eight limbs of yoga (also referred to as Raja Yoga). They have been expounded by Patanjali in his Yoga Sutras. Whenever I do yoga, my joints seem to get a little achy. And I’m not old, I’m not even 20. Is it because I’m locking my elbows and knees too much? Also, I’d like to know some of the health benefits of doing yoga regularly. Is it true that it helps your body get rid of toxins?

Thanks!

Yoga helps stimulate various glands, like your lymph nodes, which do help your body properly process out all the junk in your body.

As for your joints, it’s because they’re weak. Make sure that you are doing the poses correctly, and adjust them if you need to. Your body will adjust, just keep at it.

I’m thinking of taking up yoga, what are some health benefits of it?

I do a form of power yoga called YRG that is high cardio, low impact that increases flexiblity and builds your core. It will also help you increase your focus. I do the online version at home with no equipment needed and no monthly fees like a gym. Namaste

I am doing 2 mile walk dvd each morning, and I would like to incorporate a little more into my work out. I am courious about yoga and pilates, what are the benefits of these two workouts? Thanks

They are each a little different.

Yoga will increase your balance, as well as challange your mental awarness and breathing awarness. Afterwards you feel refreshed, flexable and awake.

Pilates is a dancers workout. Its designed to strengthen your "core" muscles…mainly your deep abs. You wont notice a 6 pack right away, but you will feel it. The benefits are great, you start using the trunk of your body more instead of relying on your stronger legs and arms. Its a lot of sit up like movements.

Both are really easy for at home viedeos because you can get ones that dont require any extra equitment, dont require fast cardio movement, or really make you feel *too* silly (all videos make us feel somewhat silly, its part of the deal, lol)

Yoga is nothing but a practice to synchronize the actions of mind, breathing and bodily actions. yoga means union or synchronization. This helps relaxing the body, breathing functions and improve concentration of mind. You can take up yoga under the instruction and supervision of a trained person in yoga. Best wishes to you.
